“In The Mood For Love”

OUR REMAKE OF A SCENE - GROUP FILM PROJECT (CINEMATOGRAPHY)

Synopsis: Two neighbors form a strong bond after both suspect extramarital activities of their spouses. However, they agree to keep their bond platonic so as not to commit similar wrongs.

🌟 Assignment Objectives:

To communicate on a subliminal layer through cinematography - based on how and where to place the camera at each given moment, and the context of that decision. By communicating through mood, colours, texture, the staging of characters, the usage of space & visual composition.

💭 Assignment Requirements:

Students are given a scene from the film, ‘In The Mood For Love’ by Wong Kar-Wai (2000). They should attempt to reinterpret the scene, or present an entirely different interpretation, by conveying the emotions subliminally through cinematography. The final submission should consist of a pair of matching close-ups that are technically well-executed to a high cinematic standard, in terms of matching eyelines, focal length, and shot size.
