Synopsis: Japanese anime as a medium is a deep & diverse one, striving to explore a reality where elements of realism are featured in the visuals as well as in the narrative’s subject matter. What feelings did Shinkai put into his work?

🌟 Assignment Objectives:

“To analyze films from a historical/critical perspective, and to develop analytical thinking skills through confidence in learner-centered learning. Students should also demonstrate verbal & visual presentation skills.”

💭 Assignment Requirements:

Students are to create and submit a video essay, not more than 5 minutes long, on an Asian director as part of the module assessment. It can be one director from a particular national cinema in the Asian region, or a group of directors from a particular period (eg. masters of classic Japanese cinema, fifth generation from China, etc.)
